A Visit From Buffy, Scott and Karlie

Buffy, Scott and Karlie came for a short visit in July on their way home from Las Vegas. It was a short visit but we loved having them!

Here is Grandpa filling up the pool he bought for Karlie's visit.

My precious Karlie!

Playing on Grandma & Grandpa's bed

It was still too cool to go swimming in the morning but Karlie had fun waiting anyway!

Karlie was very busy watering all Grandma's flowers!

Time to go swimming in the pool!!

Just relaxing after dinner!

Checking out Grandma's garden - My, that's a big zucchini!

Watering more flowers!

Karlie sure loves dogs - including our dog, CopperOh My!! Time to go home!

Journey Concert at Lake Tahoe!

It has been a such a busy summer for us that I thought I better update everyone on what we have been doing the last two months. I decided we needed to go to a concert and have some fun - like the old days when I was in back in high school. I heard that my favorite group - Journey - was coming to Lake Tahoe with Cheap Trick and Heart. The concert was already sold out but I kept checking and found someone selling their tickets.
(for twice the price, oh well!!)

Downtown Lake Tahoe

The Tahoe Queen

Lunch at the Riva Grille overlooking the lake Heavenly Ski Resort Lifts

Time to go to the concert!! All three bands were most popular in the 80's. I did see Heart in Detroit and later saw the original Journey with my brother, Jim, in Phoenix. Had to buy souveneirs - 2 t-shirts for $40 each and a coffee mug for $15 - a little pricey!!

Cheap Trick

Cheap Trick - "Surrender" - Remember this line - "got my KISS records out"?

Heart - Ann & Nancy Wilson - one of the first girl hard rock bands!

Heart - "Barracuda"

Heart - "Crazy Over You" What a voice range!

The highlight of the evening - JOURNEY!! The original members of Journey found the new lead singer, Arnel Pineda, on the internet on Youtube and invited him from the Phillipines to come to the U.S. and audition. He sounds just like Steve Perry!

Journey - "Separate Ways" - If you listen closely, you can hear me singing in the background. I sang the whole time and my voice got a little hoarse!

Journey - "Wheel In The Sky"

Journey - "Be Good To Yourself" - Arnel sure is a peppy guy!

Journey - "Loving, Touching, Squeezing"

Redwood Run - Part 3

On Sunday, everybody packs up and heads home. All the gas stations and restuarants are packed and the traffic is so heavy, that we decided stay and relax on Sunday and leave on Monday. So we took a road trip in the other direction to Fort Bragg and the ocean. It was a 52 mile road of curves that were 10-20 mph and going up and down mountains. We actually got to ride the famous coastal Highway 1 for twenty miles. It was beautiful!!! We stopped at the Wharf for a seafood lunch.

This is the view of the bay from the restaurant window. And closer....
And closer...
And closer...
And closer.... there are people on the rocks fishing!!

On the way back to our campground, we stopped for some pictures. This is part of Highway 1. As it winds along the coast - there were times when you can see the coastline in front of you and not have to look right or left and look away from the road. My favorite picture!!It was a dream of mine to ride to the coast. Wasn't sure if I was going to make it there and back but I did it!! Barbara was here!!!
The Stowells were here!!
On Monday, we packed up and headed home. Stopped at Clear Lake for a break - one of Danny's favorite fishing spots. Couldn't stay to fish as we still had 5 more hours of riding!! Now I can finally say - "I rode mine"
